One of my neighbors had the wheels stolen from her Camaro RS Thursday night/Friday morning. Today there’s a couple of signs next to the car...
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
“To whoever did this, you didn’t just steal tires, you stole a childs birthday and a single mom’s ability to feed her family.”
I think it sucks, but she’s got a boyfriend with a giant red F250 who runs a general contracting company who lives with her, and aside from some lost time and an insurance deductible she should be fine.

this somehow improves rear visibility of the camaro

Of course they didn’t just steal the tires. They clearly stole the wheels too.

shhh, don’t tell her...

I’m thinking the group that nicked her wheels likely doesn’t care... (were they just stock?)

What do the signs say?

Her kids ate aluminum? And got tires for their birthdays?
Somebody call child protective services!

As far as I remember they were just stock. We live a block from the interstate. Those wheels are long gone.

In English and Spanish -
“To whoever did this, you didn’t just steal tires, you stole a childs birthday and a single mom’s ability to feed her family.”

if they didn’t before they do this year!

Why do I always roll my eyes when people play the struggling single mom card? Probably because I’ve sold a lot of cars on CL... it never fails- I post “2004 Volvo V70- $3,500" and someone will invariably reply “I’m a single mother, will you take $40 and a half a pack of Marlboros?” The only time one of the CL “single mothers” showed up to look at a car it was a dude and there was no kid to be seen...
It really sucks that this happened, but I think she’ll be okay. I bought a Ring floodlight camera that points at my cars... I recommend it to everyone.

“I can’t afford to feed my kids or buy them presents is an emergency requires me to spend 1000 dollars”
Drives brand new Camaro.... if you have a house and children you should have money for events like this in the bank before you go out a buy a brand new car.
Not justifying steal but this is a bit silly.

She just wants to rant on a real life Facebook post. She is rightfully pissed off so I don’t mind.

Yeah I doubt tre people who did that have been through the neighborhood again since.

They probably won’t be back for a while to even see the signs.

I really feel like the signs are just there to play up some personal need for drama. Shit happens. Be prepared for it. A bunch of crap drained most of my savings buffer last month, but there’s still enough there for a car insurance deductible...

Oh bilingual sign!

She should have posted on her wall.

half my neighborhood speaks Spanish at home, so I totally understood the desire for bilingual signs.

Well, most states don’t have official languages, in practice many government services could be bilingual (or already are)
It’d be great if we had a similar focus for both English to the North and the native languaes to the South as Mexico also has Spanish as defacto and not officially

She probably did. And the local “crime wave” account too.

Wait, don’t yours? I grew up on a steady diet of aluminum, and I remember my fifth birthday tires like they were yesterday. Firestone, they were....

Well, I’m sure the signs will do their job and the parties involved will see their error of their ways and return the wheels. But stealing wheels is the most random shit to me. I know technically it’s not more work than just stealing the whole car, but damned if it doesn’t seem like it. And what do wheels and tires even go for on the black market? They’re like $100 a piece at the junkyard, so imagining an unscrupulous junkyard is selling stolen parts, you’re not looking at more than $400 take home, and probably a lot less.

in my experience, those who stole the wheels would also laugh at that sign.

When struggling parents are like, “I can’t afford to feed my kids!”, then they smoke a cigarette, I have zero sympathy.

I don’t get it, either. My car’s tires are like $600 a set new, the stock wheels can usually be acquired for free from someone in my local car group/club, and a take off full set with tires with maybe a couple thousand miles might set you back $200, which is probably less than a deductible... New car groups are weird in this way, but who am I to complain about getting wheels/tires for free or nearly free?
